CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM SYMPTOMS
o Dragging fatigue that gets worse as the day goes on
o Exhaustion at the end of the day
o Irritability, nervousness, and anxiety
o Depression, apathy
o Impaired memory and concentration (this is also known as “fibrofog”)
o Dizziness
o Headaches (often called migraines when they are sufficiently intense)
o Insomnia (difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or falling back to sleep)
o Nonrestorative sleep (waking up unrefreshed)
o Sensitivity to light, smell, and sounds (which can cause headaches and nausea)
o Chemical sensitivities
MUSCULOSKELETAL SYMPTOMS
o Pain most often in the back (upper and lower including neck, shoulders, and buttocks), in the arms (wrists, elbows, shoulders), hips, legs, thighs, knees, ankles, feet, and chest wall
o Pain described as throbbing, burning, stabbing, stinging, grabbing, with intensity that varies from hour to hour and can increase with cold or damp weather, anxiety, stress, and activity
o Being able to predict a change of weather by an increase in certain symptoms
o Muscle spasms and cramps
o Widespread stiffness in muscles, tendons, and ligaments
o Pain typically worse in the morning and may improve somewhat during the day, but then will return in the evening
o Numbness of the extremities or face
o Diffuse pelvic pain
o Chest wall pain (chostocondritis)
o Temporomandibular joint pain, facial, and head pain originating in the neck area
o Feelings like electrical impulses in their muscles
o Restless legs
o A feeling of general weakness often described as “poor stamina”
GASTROINTESTINAL SYMPTOMS
o Irritable bowel syndrome
o Gas, pain, bloating, and constipation
o Diarrhea
o Nausea
o Hyperacidity
o Crampy abdominal pain that can be intense and unpredictable
GENITOURINARY
o Vulvodynia
o Vulvar vestibulitis
o Vaginal spasms or cramps
o Burning discharge
o Increased menstrual and uterine cramps
o Dyspareunia, or painful intercourse
o Bladder pain
o Recurrent bladder infections
o Interstitial cystitis
o Dark, pungent urine that burns
DERMAL
o Crawling feelings
o Itching, scaly patches
o Rashes (many varieties) in strange patches
o Small areas of pimples occur
o Perspiration that is pungent and irritates the skin
o Sensitive allergic skin
o Dermatographia is fairly common.
o Raynaud’s phenomena
MISCELLANEOUS
o Excessive nasal congestion and mucus or postnasal drip
o Brittle nails, inferior hair quality
o Scalded or metallic mouth sensations
o Bitter (sometimes even salty) taste in the mouth
o Eye irritation or blurring, burning eyes
o Ringing in the ears or popping sounds
o Vertigo
